Whimsical whimsy

Mystele Kirkeeng comes to her art as honestly as honest can be. Her art brought her out of a depression, and we are all the richer for it.

Depicting African American life from a feminine perspective, her images seem innocent and wise at the same time.  

Images of her work on Flickr eventually led me to her website, where I learnt a little about the woman who creates these whimsical paintings.
