This is pure genius. The angle is unique and terrific. The sleeve shows a military man, while the dress harkens back to the purity and innocence of the 50s. Beautiful and impactful image.

One of my favourite strobe portraits. The use of colour, space and light are sublime. Delicate and bold at the same time.

I am visually attracted to the oddity that is freckles. I don’t know why, but I find them compelling and curious. They tell you little about the person, but serve to identify the person in ways that only freckles can.
It makes you part of a club that is often red headed and blue eyed, but is also black, brown, caucasian, European, Middle Eastern, etc.
I especially like this image for the seeming moment of candor that is captured.

A classy portrait with unusual pose, but with very even light. A real study of simplicity and nuance.

A for Effort

Such a universal image of a student hard at thought, and hard at work.

Her friend’s nonchalant look at the work her friend is doing is also so familiar. Every class has the smart kid, the hard working kid, and the slackers who leech off them.

While it is well known that these 50s autos remain in use all over Cuba, it is rather clever that the model is wearing capri style pants, which were invented in the 40s and popularized in North America in the 60s.

Selected as a favourite because of the dramatic colour as well as the unexpected super wide angle approach to portraiture.
